Polarized Sunglasses… Who knew!?

OK.  So I have been wearing a $15 dollar pair of C9 (Champion) Sunglasses from Target for the last year on sunny runs.  Lately on my runs longer than an hour or so my eyes have been burning.  I figured it was from sweat but after trying out a few things to keep sweat out of my eyes, it turns out it wasn’t that.  So I starting reading up on sunglasses.  This article from the Mayo Clinic gives a pretty good summary of the situation: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/uv-protection/an00832

Turns out my current sunglasses were offering minimal (if any) UV protection nor where they polarized.  That apparently is what is causing my eyes to burn.  YIKES!

Alright, so time for a new pair of shades.  Where to start?  Oakley of course!  Sure there are cheaper solutions out there, but Oakleys look awesome Laughing Plus one of there selling points is “UV protection of PLUTONITE® lens material that filters out 100% of UVA / UVB / UVC & harmful blue light up to 400 nm“  Awesome!  I found out they Oakley has a Lance Armstrong LiveStrong line: http://oakley.com/category/1260.  I was ready to buy the Straight Jacket (12-792) version, but then found out they are not polarized.  Bummer!  Why would they make an outdoor sport line and not have them polarized?  Upon talking to some cyclists, apparently polarized lens can be too dark for them and filter out smaller objects on the road.  At the speeds these guys travel that could be a very unsafe thing.  Fair enough.  When running my top speed is around 10mph, so I’m not too concerned Embarassed

So anyway, I would up going for the Oakley Polarized Straight Jacket Dark Grey Fire (24-123).  I saved some money by getting them on eBay from this seller: http://myworld.ebay.com/hyperrevmotoparts.  Well I took these puppies for a 6 miler this morning and they are awesome!  They are extremely comfortable, dark (but not unsafe), and no burning eyes!
